• Enhances the knowledge and skills of employees and elected members.

ROLES AND ACTIVITIES

The Training Group will achieve its key outputs through:

Promotion

Promoting learning and development across all Councils and articulating the links between excellence in service delivery and excellence in development programmes

Co-ordination

Co-ordinating work in areas such as the identification of training needs, good practice exchanges, shared protocols and procurement procedures

Standards

Setting and monitoring standards of competence for external trainers and consultants

Commissioning

Establishing a select list of providers for courses, programmes and research

Provision

Providing training courses and programmes to meet identified needs

Research and Development

Establishing and maintaining a database of best practice and assessing and promoting alternatives to training courses

Evaluation

Assessing the effectiveness of courses, programmes and training providers.
