Disability Champions – Training and Support Package (Part 3)

Training on the Role of Disability Champion

This half day training session is aimed at Elected Member and Officer Disability Champions to assist them to carry out their role effectively.

At the end of the session, participants will:

Be able to challenge other senior staff and elected members to promote the values of the DILCs initiative
Be able to act as the first point of contact for enquiries and providing advice, guidance and support within the organisation
Be aware of how to promote the role of Disability Champion and the DILCs initiative within the Council and outside of the Council
Have developed advocacy and negotiation skills in relation to disability issues
Have acquired knowledge of the structures within the Council which offer support and signposting information

Lunch will be provided.

Cancellation Policy:

Substitutions may be made at any time, but please give as much notice as possible. In the event of a cancellation notified between two weeks and one week before the start of a course, a charge of £25 per training day will be levied. For a cancellation less than one week before the start of a course, or a nominee's failure to attend a course, a cancellation fee of £50 per training day will be charged to councils. This principle will also be applied if a participant fails to attend on any day of a course lasting two or more days. No charge will be levied if a cancelled place is filled from a reserve list.
