Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre, Lakeview Road, Craigavon, BT64 1AL

The next Diversity Champions workshop is to be held on 30 September 2015 in Craigavon Civic Centre.

The session has been planned to coincide with Community Relations and Cultural Awareness week which is being presented as part of the Together: Building a United Community strategy.  This has four priority areas and Diversity Champions will have the opportunity to hear case studies from Councils reflecting one or more of the priority areas, namely:

1. Our Children and Young People (aim: to continue to improve attitudes amongst our young people and to build a community where they can play a full and active role in building good relations.)

2. Our Shared Community (aim: to create a community where division does not restrict the life opportunities of individuals and where all areas are open and accessible to everyone.)

3. Our Safe Community (aim: to create a community where everyone feels safe in moving around and where life choices are not inhibited by fears)

4. Our Cultural Expression (aim: to create a community which promotes mutual respect and understanding, is strengthened by its diversity and where cultural expression is celebrated and embraced.)

The Equality and Diversity Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2017, agreed by the Equality and Diversity Group will also be launched.

The Workshop will be held from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.  There is no charge to attend the session.  A light lunch will be provided.
