NICVA Offices, 61 Duncairn Gardens, BelfastThe next Equality Network Seminar will examine the police checking of new employees who have access to children (Pre-Employment Consultancy Service (PECS)). The Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (NI) Order 2003 was effective from February 2003. The Parts of the Order currently covered by PECS will be brought into operation from November 2004. A representative from DHPSS will outline this new legislation. Experts from the NSPCC and Volunteer Development Agency will outline the implications for the councils and good practice in this area. There will also be a good practice case study from Lisburn City Council. While this seminar is aimed at Human Resource Professionals, it may also be of interest to officers in your council who have responsibility for child protection. The seminar will be held at 10am on Wednesday 12 May 2004 in the NICVA Offices. A light lunch will be provided. There is no charge for this event although places are limited.
