The next Equality Network Seminar will be held on Tuesday 24 May 2005 in Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, Oxford Island, Craigavon. This half day event will focus on a number of key issues facing those with responsibility for equality in local government:

Article 55 Reviews

The Equality Commission has prepared guidance to assist organisations complete their Reviews. Paul Oakes, Manager, Employment Development Division will outline the guidance and answer queries.

Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (NI) Order 2003

This session will provide information on the main requirements of this legislation which came into effect on 1 April 2005 and will be especially relevant for those who:

develop and review child protection policies
have responsibility for recruitment and selection of staff to work with children; and
have responsibility for hiring premises to other organisations working with children and vulnerable adults.

Employing Migrant Workers

This session, facilitated by Daniel Holder, Project Manager, ANIMATE, aims to raise awareness of best practice and signpost participants to key service providers who can meet the specific needs of migrant workers.
