This one-day course will be of interest to anyone wishing to improve their writing skills for preparing correspondence, information leaflets, publicity material, annual reports etc.

Please note that the cost of this course represents a substantial reduction on the open market cost of the course.

Course Content:

The course emphasises the three stages of effective writing:

Planning- Identifying the aims of the document; carrying out research; creating structure.

Writing -  Ensuring your writing is accessible to readers through style, clarity and brevity.

Editing - Spotting grammar, spelling and vocabulary errors.

A Training Needs Analysis form and a two-page sample of writing must be submitted prior to the course.  The form with further details are attached to the confirmation email which is received directly after a confirmed booking is made.

Only participants with a place on the course should complete the pre-course material attached to the booking confirmation

Bookings should be made online by the TLO, or someone authorised by the TLO.

Cancellation Policy:

Substitutions may be made at any time, but please give as much notice as possible.  In the event of a cancellation notified between two weeks and one week before the start of a course, a charge of £135 per training day will be levied.  For a cancellation less than one week before the start of a course, or a nominee's failure to attend a course, a cancellation fee of £270 per training day will be charged to councils.  This principle will also be applied if a participant fails to attend on any day of a course lasting two or more days.  No charge will be levied if a cancelled place is filled from a reserve list.
