The Commission assists local government to deliver best practice in equality and diversity by:

Assisting councils and the NIHE to develop model policies, as required.
Giving clear guidance and outlining best practice on equality and diversity issues.
Facilitating the Equality Network to ensure that officers in the councils and NIHE are aware of new employment legislation and relevant case law.
Facilitating the Statutory Duty Network for Equality Officers in councils and the NIHE which provides advice and support in order to assist them to implement their statutory duties and to implement their Disability Action Plans.
